63 Brand new apartments will soon be underway in Albany, NY located at 60 Colvin Avenue. This mixed income, mixed-use development will be comprised of 63 apartments, including 49 one-bedroom apartments and 14 two-bedroom apartments, and 4,809 total square feet of commercial space, which will be leased to a childcare center that will service resident families and the broader community.
Colvin Avenue Commons will be divided into two wood-framed buildings totaling 71,870 square feet including exterior walls. A 55,482 square foot, three-story building will have 48 units and a 16,388 square foot, two-story story building will have 15 units. There will be 4,809 square feet of commercial space located in the three-story building.
Each building will have an elevator serving all floors, a residential tenant community room, and laundry facilities. All apartments will include a dishwasher, a microwave and access to bulk storage. Exterior amenities will feature a playground structure, benches, and 63 on-site parking spaces for residents and their guests, four of which will include electric vehicle charging stations. The larger of the two apartment buildings will have a bike room for resident bike storage.
This workforce opportunity project is part of the Central Avenue Business Improvement District’s focus area and is located on the corner of a major bus route with frequent bus service along a major business corridor to Downtown Albany seven days a week.
Complimentary broadband internet service will be included so each dwelling unit will have high speed internet access. Colvin Avenue Commons will pursue a stretch sustainability goal by meeting 2020 Enterprise Green Communities Plus. In addition, the project will achieve additional stretch sustainability measures through the use of geothermal ground-source heat pumps.
